PaleoAdventures provides a wide range of services to the education, museum, and tourist related industries including dinosaur dig site tours, paleontological consulting, educational programs and fossil sales. Since 2005, we have been a leader in the world of commercial paleontology, working with private land owners to ethically recover dinosaur remains and get them into good homes.

Walter Stein, the owner, has been excavating dinosaur fossils since 1996 and has over 30 important skeletons to his credit, including the largest Triceratops specimen ever found (“Big John”), a new species of raptor and two Tyrannosaurs (“Leonard” and “Sir William”). Many of the fossils we have collected are in museums all over the world.

During the summer months, PaleoAdventures runs authentic dinosaur dig site tours where, kids (ages 12 and up), families and large groups are trained in proper fossil collection on private SD ranches. If you have ever wanted to be a paleontologist, the digs are both fun and educational. Guest spend the whole day digging for dino bones and can even keep some of the original fossils that you find. Tours are by reservation only and space is limited. Guests should book these trips by December/January.

PaleoAdventures is also developing a new dinosaur museum in the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota. This new museum will have multiple cast and original dinosaur skeletons, a gift shop and a large fossil preparation laboratory where guests will be able to see and touch the amazing fossils being recovered from our western badlands. “
